If you’re here you have probably figured out we are a junk removal company and you’re probably here because you have junk that needs to be removed and maybe you don’t want to or can’t deal with it yourself. But, like many of our clients, you’re curious as to what we do with all the “junk” that we’ve loaded into our truck.
Well, it depends on what it is! There are a lot of rules for what can go where. We also just like to keep things out of the landfill too.

At this point, it’s safe to assume you’ve been on a couple different junk removal companies’ websites trying to figure out the cheapest option or maybe even the greenest option. Here is a little industry secret, junk removal companies are supposed to follow all the same rules as anyone else when it comes to sorting all the material we haul away. Green waste, clean wood, paint cans, TVs, mattresses, cardboard, plastics, all have a home that isn’t the landfill.
If you have drywall that needs to be hauled away, you should read our blog post here about the steps we take to remove it or how to do it yourself.
If you have household items, unused building material, and more that you think might still be usable by someone else, our go to spot is Urban Repurpose.
If you have clothing, especially workplace specific clothing, the Harvest Project is a great place to make sure your suit or Carhartt overalls get a loving second life.
Paper, cardboard, soft plastics, large plastic items (marked with a 2 or 5 recycling symbol), metal, light bulbs, electronics, yard/gardening equipment, cooking oil, glass containers, some pesticides, motor oil, books, and so much more can all be recycled for free in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Richmond, Coquitlam and elsewhere across Metro Vancouver.
Concrete, bricks, and dirt can be taken to a variety of different places depending on where you live. For the North Shore, we always go to Headwater Management Ltd.
Book Lovers in North Vancouver is a great place to drop off books that you’re done enjoying. We once dropped off over 2500kgs of books there!

Now that you know some of the junk removal secrets, you might be thinking, “okay, I can do it myself, why should I hire you?” and the honest answer is, you shouldn’t! If you can take your once loved but now needing a new home items to one of the places listed above, you absolutely should. You’ll meet some great people at all of those locations, you can teach your kids about the importance of recycling and reusing, and you will save some money.
BUT
Maybe you don’t have the time, maybe you don’t have the right vehicle, maybe your physiotherapist said you really shouldn’t be lifting couches anymore. In that case, you should call us and we’ll take care of sorting, loading, recycling, and dumping everything so you can sit back and relax for once.
